A slow project

Over in the Project:Stash group on Ravelry, Evelyn is hosting  a slow KAL called 'The Long Journey' intended to take a while. Just before I read her post, I had been sorting out my stash, and all the half balls and leftovers that I had from my recent projects and wondering what to do with them, so this I think is perfect for me.

I am going to make a Wonder Blanket, maybe even 2! I have sorted my yarns, so my first blanket will use blues, browns, greys, some dusky greens and a wee bit of red. I think it might be a nice one for my son's bed!

I'm also going to just do skinny stripes on this blanket 1-3 rows of the same colour before swapping out. I thought I might also attempt a knit in i-cord edging like on the Garter Squish Blanket.

I was actually really surprised as I sorted my stash that I had more yarns in these colorways, I was sure I would be doing one for my daughter first, but the pile of pinks, purples and whites was pretty pitiful!

But I will continue to add to this pile this year, and hopefully I will be motivated enough to make 2 blankets!

The wonder blanket is a lovely simple knit, easy for when you really don't want to think! Feel free to join me in using up your scraps, and of course you can come over to the Project:Stash group and join in there too!

  2. I am very excited to see this evolve. My stash isn't big enough to knit something like that yet, lucky me haha

  3. Fun! I love the extra chunky Garter Squish. I feel like I'd run out of steam with it and end up with a scrappy scarf, which isn't so bad either!

  7. Two years ago when I was on bedrest I made a blanket similar to the squishy garter blanket. Double stranded on huge needles made it easy to work with while lying about. All made of scrap yarn too. It was fun trying to decide how to put the colors together. And that's what it is all about is having fun! I donated it to Project Linus, but sadly I didn't take a picture of it.

  8. Crochet blankets like Granny Squares ones I made some years ago were all about this! But I guess with knitting you don't have all the stopping and starting of crochet squares, but the squares are great for using quite short lengths of yarn. Look forward to seeing the finished blankets!
